Riot Grrrl is an underground feminist punk movement that emerged in the early 1990s. Blending DIY punk music with political activism, it challenged patriarchal and sexist attitudes, serving as a precursor to third-wave feminism.
That spirit is what this event draws from: created for International Women’s Day and inspired by the movement’s focus on expression, community, and visibility.
This is not a reenactment, but a shared moment shaped by the people involved. Music rooted in punk, alternative, and riot-grrrl-adjacent sounds sets the tone, while the night itself remains intentionally open.
Riot Grrrl is about showing up and letting different voices exist side by side without hierarchy, permission, or a single way of being present.
